This well written sci-fi/fantasy is a creative masterpiece by two really great writers. Now I myself am not a fan of M/M books, so being able to review this book and say I look forward to another like this would be false. However the writing and creativity of this book is flawless in spite of the subject matter not being my cup of tea. The characters did indeed come to life and I could feel their emotions through written words. Would I recommend this book to others? Well of course! Reading a great book allows a reader to escape into their imagination and slip into the illusion the book creates. For me, I imagined the two characters as characters I do enjoy reading and voila! Sort of like being attracted to red heads. The person in front of you doesn't have red hair, but you are capable of imagining red hair, and wow what a response you feel. So with that said, I can honestly say, another collaboration between these two amazing writers would definitely be worth my time to read! Kudos! Luc has received special permission to travel to Oria during the time of Jainfest. His purpose, to release his mother's soul on this sacred planet then he would celebrate Jainfest there. A fitting place since the holiday was one of celebrating lost loved ones and communicating with them if they chose to appear.
It is after he finds the perfect spot to release his mother's soul that he sees the human. The human is a beautiful man, and Luc's reaction to him is one he didn't expect. Especially with his heart so heavy with loss.
Tristan was fleeing with the evidence he needs to clear his name when he crash landed on a planet he never knew existed. He'd traveled this way thousands of times and had never seen it. It was uncharted, how could it be and then not be. The answers could possibly come from the alien he saw hiding behind a tree.
Trust doesn't come easily for either of them, Tristan because he is human after all, and Luc because of the things he was taught to believe, all humans are violent and dangerous. However, neither of them can deny the attraction between them.
Luc helps Tristan send his evidence to Shadow Fleet command, and explains why they can't leave the planet for three days.
In appreciation, Tristan offers his help and companionship with the rituals. Knowing that he is safe from being re-captured, at least for now, he finds he can relax.
Emotional and inspiring this book takes us from the pain of loss, to believing there can be a new beginning.
